What It Means
Pump Communication Lost
Likely Causes
- RS-485 data cable wiring fault between control panel and pump
- Wrong DIP switch address on pump
- Cable length too long or damaged
- IntelliTouch firmware mismatch with newer IntelliFlo
Next Checks
- Check RS-485 cable color order at both ends — must be consistent (A/B/GND wiring specific to Pentair protocol)
- Verify pump address DIP switches match assignment in IntelliTouch programming (Pump 1 = address 1, etc.)
- Cable max: 1000ft for RS-485, but real-world limit is often 300ft — check for splices or sharp bends
- Cycle power to both the control panel and the pump; wait 60 seconds for comms to re-establish
