Likely Causes
- Gas supply off or too low
- Faulty hot surface igniter (HSI)
- Dirty flame sensor
- Gas valve not opening
- Flue backpressure (installation clearance issue)
Next Checks
- Verify gas shutoff valve is open
- Check manifold gas pressure (3.5" WC natural, 10" LP)
- Inspect HSI — should glow bright orange, replace if cracked or dim
- Clean flame rod with fine emery cloth
- Check flue clearance from walls — minimum per install manual
- JXi auto-retries 3x then locks out; hold MODE to reset lockout
