What It Means
Chlorine Output Below Setpoint
Likely Causes
- Cell approaching end of life (production decreases over time)
- Salt level slightly low
- CYA too high (masks FC reading — pool may be adequately chlorinated)
- Setpoint too low for bather load or pool size
Next Checks
- Run cell inspection diagnostic — compare cell amps to expected output for cell size
- Increase output setpoint by 10% and monitor FC
- Test true FC with Taylor K-2006 or FAS-DPD — strip tests are unreliable for SWG pools
- Replace cell if amps consistently below 1A on cell diagnostic
