What It Means
Cell Inspection Required
Likely Causes
- High calcium buildup on cell plates (most common)
- Cell has reached end of life (average 5-7 years / 10,000 hrs)
- Cell cable loose or corroded
- Cell damaged — cracked housing or bent plates
Next Checks
- Inspect cell — if white calcium scale visible, perform acid wash: soak in 4:1 water-to-muriatic acid for 15 minutes, rinse thoroughly
- Do NOT scrub cell plates — acid is the only safe cleaning method
- Check cell cable connection at control box — wiggle while reading diagnostic output
- Replace cell if acid wash doesn't resolve, cell is >7 years old, or plates appear damaged
